I recently spent a week in San Miguel de Allende during Day of the Dead observances. Last year I was in Oaxaca during that time, and I vowed that I would return somewhere in Mexico each year thereafter to photograph Day of the Dead.
As I expected, I found Day of the Dead in San Miguel to be more of a party, and less "authentic" than in Oaxaca, where many take it quite seriously. Nevertheless, photo opportunities were everywhere.
