Another excellent birding area in Cali, Colombia, is the Rio Pance Ecoparque.
The park spans a good length of the River Pance, but the best area for photographing birds I found was in the grounds of the EcoHotel El Castillo, where I enjoyed a wonderful lunch after a morning of birding. The hotel restaurant has numerous hummingbird feeders, and birds were plentiful on the hotel grounds.

Of all of the many new birds I saw in Colombia, the Saffron Finch was one of my favorites. Though not as showy as many of the tanagers (see future posts!), it was a frequent and seemingly friendly visitor to parks and lawns, usually found in pairs or small flocks:
