American White Pelicans

Remember the baby pelicans at Lindo Lake I posted about not long ago?

Here one of them takes a swim behind one of its parents, at sunset. Photographed in May of this year, about two weeks after the previous photos.

Red-shouldered Hawk

A handsome Red-shouldered Hawk flies above Santee Lakes.

Closer examination of the photo shows a misshapen bill. I imagine that it resulted from an injury, and hope that it does not represent another species suffering from a deformed-bill syndrome, as elucidated here.
