Last Friday I headed to Imperial Beach in the late afternoon to see what birds I could find.
My first stop was the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge.
Though I have visited here many times, I have had few photographic successes. This visit was a bit more productive than usual.
Upon arrival, I noticed a solo tern flying overhead. I thought to myself, "Nice, a tern!"
Looking at my camera's LCD, I then thought to myself, "Very nice! A Gull-billed Tern!!"
This was the first Gull-billed Tern I have photographed in San Diego County, as it is one of the terns least frequently seen here.
Though it was quite a distant photo, I was still quite pleased.
