Reddish Egret
The Reddish Egret is uncommon in California (except at Bolsa Chica!) but more common south of the border.
There were at least two or three when I visited Estero Beach last month.
Here is one doing its typical dance to catch fish:

Great Blue Heron
A Great Blue Heron flies towards the sunrise. Photographed at the Estero Beach Hotel south of Ensenada, three weeks ago.
About twenty minutes later I saw this bird fly into a palm tree, so I waited patiently for about ten minutes for it to fly out, thinking it would make a nice silhouette against the bright morning sky.

Vermilion Flycatcher
The Estero Beach Hotel is one of my favorite birding locations. As its name suggests, it is located on a beautiful estuary south of Ensenada, Baja California.
It is also a reliable place to see Vermilion Flycatchers. On my visit last month, there were at least a half dozen.
Here is a lovely female:
