Pot of Gold in Borrego Springs

The morning of March 10 of this year there were beautiful rainbows in Borrego Springs, lasting only a few minutes.

Snow Geese

Trees and Morning Sun

Once a month I drive east along Highway 8 from San Diego to the Imperial Valley. Countless times I have seen the morning sun illuminate the meadow and trees just southwest of the Buckman Springs Rest Area, and wished I could stop and take a picture.

Well, a few weeks ago I decided to leave home earlier, so that I did have time to photograph these trees. I am pleased with the result.

I'll have to try it again next month!

Allen's Hummingbird

Song Sparrow

Song Sparrows are now singing away on their territories and building nests.

Here is one along the Coast Walk Trail in La Jolla, California, photographed yesterday morning.

The unusual texture surrounding the bird is formed by out-of-focus twigs and foliage in the surrounding bushes.
