I am a photographer based in San Diego. I now specialize in bird photography, but also regularly photograph scenes of Mexico, Route 66, tennis, bicycle racing, flowers, and people. My work hangs in galleries in San Diego and elsewhere, and I am available for slide shows, lectures, and exhibitions.
This Savannah Sparrow landed just in front of me at the Bolsa Chica boardwalk two weeks ago, and started singing away for a few seconds before flying off.
The Savannah Sparrow's song is extremely high pitched and usually difficult for my ears to hear, but this one was easy to hear!
Another Burrowing Owl, photographed near Mexicali in March 2010.
The background is washed out from photographing into an overcast sky. The ribbon (upside down and torn) says "Burrowing Owl." Since Burrowing Owls in the Imperial Valley make their nests in the sides of irrigation ditches, the stakes alert farmers to the nest sites so they can avoid causing harm to them.
