At La Jolla Cove the Brandt's Cormorants take center stage with their nesting activity. Double-crested Cormorants are seen in the trees above the cove. Occasionally, though, one can glimpse a Pelagic Cormorant as it flies by.
Here is one I photographed in March of last year, showing the characteristic white patch on its rump.
A Burrowing Owl stands watch over its nest as its mate approaches.

On a rainy day, an Immature Bald Eagle takes flight from a telephone pole near Santa Ysabel (San Diego County).
Bald Eagles do not assume their adult appearance (with a white head) until they are about five years old.
