Xico, Veracruz, is one of many "Pueblos Magicos" in Mexico, a designation given to cities with special charm.
Entering the small town I was immediately captivated by its cobblestone streets and magical atmosphere, which was made more special by the festivities taking place in celebration of its patron saint, Maria Magdalena.
One of the first sights that I saw from my driver's seat was this one. At first I thought it was a boxer returning from a workout, but then realized that it was a man in a boxer's costume, with a mask over his face, returning from one of the many parades/processions which featured hundreds of clowns and others dressed in various costumes.
I had to quickly grab my camera and shoot as he ran past a public mural painted for Day of the Dead.
