I rarely enter photo contests now, for a variety of reasons.
However, when I saw the call for entries for the Audubon Magazine Photo Contest, I decided to enter a few of my favorite bird photos. The cause was a good one (entry fees support the Audubon Society), and there was a chance of exposure to a wider audience.
I was pleased to learn that my photo Eleven Turkey Vultures was chosen as an honorable mention, and was given a two-page spread near the front of the May-June 2016 issue of Audubon Magazine (though they did not keep the title).
The photograph was taken in late 2014, south of San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.
The Audubon website devotes a page to the winning photos, and another to the 100 finalists. Check them out, many are spectacular photos! I especially like the Long-billed Thrasher and the Wood Duckling photos near the beginning of the 100 top entries.
Outstanding ! Congratulations !
