Pinacate Dunes

El Pinacate is a biosphere reserve in the state of Sonora, Mexico. Sand dunes are one of its main attractions, such as the ones pictured here.

Cactus Wren

Another Cactus Wren, certainly in its element! Photographed in Organ Pipe National Monument in December of last year.

 

Blue-footed Booby

The Blue-footed Booby is found throughout the Sea of Cortez and along the Pacific Coast through Central and South America, and in the Galapagos.

Here is one in the harbor of Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico, photographed on New Year's Day of this year.

 

Quitobaquito

Quitobaquito is a small pond, part of Organ Pipe National Monument. It is just a stone's throw from the Mexican border. It is a site favored by birders, but I saw only a few species on my quick afternoon visit in December of last year.
