Song Sparrow

This Song Sparrow was photographed not long ago near Chino, California. While the sparrow's pose is not particularly interesting, I find that the background is fascinating. The sparrow was fairly close to the camera, and there were out of focus twigs, weeds, and other vegetation both in front and behind the bird. The way they are rendered by the lens is very unusual, quite the opposite of the ultra-creamy backgrounds favored by many photographers.
