Borrego Sunset

Many photographers put down their cameras once the sun passes below the horizon. In Anza-Borrego State Park, the sun sets behind the mountains quite early, and the sky does not begin to change color until at least 30 to 45 minutes later. This shot, taken in June of this year, looks east from the visitors center towards Font's Point. The color is quite consistent with how it appeared in person.

Common Raven Silhouette

Sometimes it's difficult to tell a Common Raven apart from an American Crow. However, when they are soaring and the tail is pointed, or wedge-shaped, like this one, then it's a Common Raven. (A crow's would be much less pointed). Photographed recently in Anza-Borrego State Park.

Inked

It never ceases to amaze me the connections that can be made over the internet.

One of my photos has been used as a tattoo! With my permission, Mike Green, a home remodeller and mountain bike enthusiast from Atlanta, Georgia, used my image of a Red-tailed Hawk for a tattoo on his lower leg. For anatomical and design reasons he reversed this image, and now it appears as in the photo below. It's quite a likeness!

This is actually not the first time one of my images has been the basis for a tattoo. There is a gentleman who has over 66 tattoos of Route 66 on his body, who used one of my Route 66 pictures (of a giant ketchup bottle!) as the basis for one of his tattoos.
