I entered these five photographs into Art Morris' bird photography contest in the category "Small-in-Frame". In this category, the bird was meant to be a small part of an overall larger composition.
The silhouette of an osprey (mislabeled as "eagle" by the judges), was a finalist. I thought my photo of the black-crowned night heron at the Salton Sea was a stronger photograph, but I wasn't a judge! The excellent finalists can be seen here.
