I will be posting more birds (lots more) soon.
For the next few days I'll post a few pictures from a recent short trip to Guadalajara, Ajijic, and Colima.
The town of Ajijic is a lovely, colonial town with cobblestone streets on the shores of Lake Chapala, south of Guadalajara. Thousands of Americans and Canadians live there, but it maintains a lovely character. It is full of restaurants and galleries, but most notably, there is public art everywhere. All of the utility poles are hand-painted.
This was my first visit. I was only there for about two hours, but it far exceeded my expectations. It is on my list of "Pueblos Magicos" to which I will return for a longer visit.
Here is a display of beaded handiwork in front of a small mural of Father Hidalgo, who was a hero of the Mexican war of independence from Spain.
